Born in Providence he was the son of the late John and Margaret ( Dooley ) Walsh.
Mr. Walsh attended LaSalle Academy and would go on to serve his country honorable in the United States Navy. After his military service Jerry became a patrolman for the Providence Police department where he worked until 1980. After retiring Mr. Walsh worked as a driver for RIPTA until his retirement in 2002.
Mr. Walsh was a member of the Rhode Island Police Officers Emerald Society, the Providence Fraternal Order of Police and the Amalgamated Transit Union.
Jerry, along with his wife Clara-Ann, were proprietors of Walsh's Pub on Smith Street from the early 1980's until selling to Patrick Griffin in 1992 and becoming Pat's Pub.
Mr. Walsh is survived by his children, Gerald E. Walsh, Jr of Warren, Colleen Walsh of Providence, and Sean Walsh and his wife Sarah of Warwick, his 11 grandchildren DJ, Nicholas, Jessalyn, Jaimee, Lee, Taylor, Abbigail, Parker, Keilan, Brayden, and Emily, his 2 great grandchildren, Jameson and Natalie and his sisters Madeline McCrudden and Bernadette Doyle. Jerry also leaves his son in law Joseph O'Neill. He was the father of the late Christine Walsh O'Neill and brother of the late Sr. Virginia Walsh, Jack Walsh, James Walsh, Helen Cain and Joseph Walsh.
Funeral Service will be held Friday May 20, 2022 at 9:30am from the Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am in St. Patrick's Church, 244 Smith Street, Providence. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow in the Rhode Island Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Family and friends may call Thursday May 19, 2022 from 4:00-8:00pm in the Funeral Home.
