John Dean Fenner grew up in Manassas Park, Virginia and spent most of his adult life there including his career of 25 years in law enforcement. After John's retirement from law enforcement, he and his wife Debbie moved out west, where he became Security & Ranch Manager for Wayne Newton, and continued to work for Mr. Newton throughout the years. John and Debbie, returned to Virginia where he briefly worked as a security officer for Prince William County Alternative schools. They later settled at Lake Anna, Virginia and opened Frosties Rail Stop ice cream shop located in the Town of Louisa. After much success, John sold the ice cream shop to retire where he would spend much of his time enjoying life with family and friends.

John's success in life was no accident. He was a natural born leader who firmly believed in hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, integrity, and love of what you were doing. His life exemplified this in everything he set out to do and was quite evident by the many successes he had, and the many, many, relationships he maintained throughout his lifetime.

He had met his calling in law enforcement, through his love of serving others whether it was by his way of reading someone the riot act, a kind word and a big smile, being there in a time of need, or by simply doing his job with integrity and professionalism like only he could do.

His love of boating often found him out on the Lake enjoying water sports and just hanging out with family and friends. He often told the story of his friends sinking boat and how they scrambled to rescue. It seems they were having such a good time cutting up, the plug was forgotten while docking.

He enjoyed the excitement of Las Vegas and had made many trips over the years with close friends and his brother Bill. Such the jokester, he would wait until he got into an elevator full of people and then turn to a family member or friend and ask, "how much did they take in taxes", of course with a captured audience putting you on the spot to answer how big you had won, all the while egging it on with a big grin on his face.
He enjoyed sports and music and would often plan events with family and friends whether it be a sporting event or a concert. It was always an adventure getting backstage or attending meet and greets. He always made it a memorable event for everyone.

John was born to and preceded in death by his parents Benjamin A. Fenner and Pauline M. Fenner, and an older brother Wilford "Bill" Fenner. He was a younger brother to three siblings, a loving and kind son and brother, a gifted and adventurous kid with a mischievous sense of humor, a love of friends, animals, music, and sports.

John is survived by his wife Deborah "Debbie" Lamb Fenner, siblings Benjamin "Sandy" Fenner and wife Phyllis, and Beverly Fenner Barr and husband Wayne; brothers-in-law Larry Lamb and wife Shirley, and Danny Lamb and fiancé Chandra, and sister-in-law Donna Fenner Garner. John and Debbie have been together and inseparable since the day they met. He the love of her life, and she the love of his. They were blessed with a beautiful life together.

Being very much a family man, John was the natural patriarch of the clan, and always knew how to mentor without being obvious. He was a proud uncle of three nieces and four nephews; Natalie "Barr" McCracken and husband Mark, Rebecca "Lamb" Williams and husband Charles, Amanda Lamb, Christopher Barr and wife Nicole, Bryan Blue, Eric Fenner and wife Taryn, and Steve Fenner and wife Pam; and the proud uncle of nineteen great nieces and nephews; Vincent, baby Beaux, Logan, Hadleigh, Ethan, Kamdyn, Carter, Amy, Payton, Aiden, Everleigh, Zach, Emily, Ben, Serenity, Ben, Beck, Roman, and Eden.

John has left a legacy of a strong faith and personal relationship with Jesus Christ; the affirmation and love of his family and friends; a natural born leader with a love of serving others; a deep sense of patriotism for his country; the importance of counting your blessings; and always maintaining a sense of humor.
For those who knew and loved John, the one thing he would want you to know is that he loved life to the fullest, and loved you with his whole heart, and would want you to honor his memory by doing the same.

John's family, immediate and extended have always been close, have a wonderful love for one another and will continue in that tradition, knowing he is rejoicing in heaven with those who have gone before us, and will always be with us in everything we do.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 9, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Chapel Springs Assembly of God, 11500 New Life Way, Bristow, VA. A celebration of John's life will begin at 12:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary with Dr. Douglas Chapman officiating. Interment will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in Stonewall Memory Gardens, 12004 Lee Highway Manassas.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you perform an act of kindness whether it be for a stranger or those that you love and hold dear. Be a blessing to someone else, and you will be blessed.
