Early Saturday evening the news was spread of the passing of Roy Dougherty. Mr. Dougherty had resided just west of Gary the past few years on what is known as the Humbert place.

Mr. Dougherty had not been in good health for the past few years but became seriously ill in June. He entered the Hendricks hispital on July 7, 1952 and then was moved to the Asbury Hospital in Minneapolis where he underwent major surgery on his stomach. He was discharged from the hospital on July 30 and brought to his home here in Gary. Last Saturday afternoon his condition becaume worse and he was rushed to the Hendricks Hospital where death came within two hours.

Mr. Dougherty was born December 25, 1892 in Eddyville, Nebraska. At the age of eight years he moved with his parents to a farm near Fairview, SD.

He was united in marriage on June 10, 1914 to Amy Estle Webber of Fairview. In December 1915 they moved to the Gary community where they continued to farm until his passing on August 2, 1952.

To this union were born five childre, Clinton, of Filer, Idaho, Mrs. Maynard (Eleanor) Cochrane of Gary, Mrs. Walter (Myrna) Hansen of Canby, Edwin of Gary and Raymond of St. Peter, Minnesota.

Preceding him in death were his movther, father, a sister, and one brother.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Amy, all five children, eleven grandchildren and many other relatives and a host of friends.

Mr. Dougherty was serving as assessor of Herrick township this spring, which office he had filled for a number of years.

Funeral services were being held this afternoon at the Methodist Church in Gary, with Rev. Hanna in charge.
The pallbearers were R.B. Cochrane, Fred Hansen, Frank Vander Does, Oscar Almos, Adoph Sanden and Ted J. Potthoff.

Music consisted of several duet vocal selections by Mrs. Harry Olsen and Miss Ruth Peden and a vocal solo, "My God and I" by Mrs. Olson. Mrs. Lee Hanson was organist.
