Jesse Leroy Bates, 55, of Hickman, Kentucky passed away 8:30 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2022, at his home.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Mickey Fowler will officiate. Burial will follow in Wingo Cemetery in Wingo, Kentucky.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services Wednesday.
Jesse was born May 17, 1967, in Chicago, Illinois, son of Ruth Patricia (Hamil) Busby of Hickman, Kentucky and the late Jesse Paul Bates. He married Shelia Gail (Tynes) Bates June 30, 2018. She preceded him in death September 30, 2019. Jesse had been employed at Mayfield Concrete prior to becoming disabled. He attended Pryorsburg Indepdent Bible Methodist Church and enjoyed riding motorcycles and drawing.
He is also survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Kristin and John Strupek of Hickman, Kentucky; one son, Jesse Leroy Bates, Jr. of Mayfield, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Willow Strupek and Matthew Strupek both of Hickman, Kentucky; one sister, Rose Fulcher of Hickman, Kentucky; two half sisters, Janel Albrecht and Melissa Duncan both of Bloomington, Illinois; and one half brother, Tony Bates of Mayfield, Kentucky.
He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Lace Thomas Busby, Sr.
