Raul (Chappo) Martinez of Mason passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at the age of 58.
Chappo is survived by his sisters, Rosa Morquecho, Irene Gutierrez and husband, Joe of Mason, Tx, Martha Lopez and husband, Deacon Mike of San Angelo, Tx, Amelia Pena and husband, Tony of San Angelo, Tx, and his brothers, Danny Martinez and wife, Becky of Mason, Tx, Adrian Medrano of Mason, Tx, and a sister-in-Law, Irene Martinez of Mason, Tx.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cano and Isabel Martinez, Martin Martinez, Joe Martinez and Sammy Martinez.
Chappo was born December 28, 1963, to Cano and Isabel Martinez in Lubbock, Tx, but raised in Mason. He was a construction worker with his father, as well as, in masonry. He had a love for football. He loved it so much growing up. He played in his junior high and high school years. After his high school years, he loved the Dallas Cowboys and has been the biggest fan. He was a very cheerful person, cracking jokes all the time. He had a heart as big as Texas and a smile that would light up a room. He never met a stranger and would take the shirt off his back to help any way he could.
We want to thank Dialysis and Hill Country Preferred Senior Care, Texas Heart Methodist Hospital and Shannon Hospital for all your services in taking care of our beloved brother.
Pall Bearers: Fermin Silerio, Hector Berreles, Valentin Velez, Timothy Pena, Joe Martinez, Marcus Martinez, Michael Allen Lopez and Brayden Medrano.
Honorary Pall Bearers: Christopher Martinez, Ramon Martinez, Jamil Jefferson, Charlie Barnes and Jeff Owens.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 19, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Crosby Cemetery.
