James Wilson Lingle married about 1887, Harriett Levina Anderson, born Tennessee. The couple had 7 children, though three children died early in life. James was found in Moko, Fulton County, AR according to the 1880 census (as James Bratcher - his step-father's name). He lived in Moko at least until 1894 when his son, Everette, was born there. Before 1900, the family moved to Koshkonong, Oregon Co. MO, then later lived in Siloam Springs, Benton Co., AR and the surrounding area. James was a grocer by trade; he had rhuematoid arthritus for much of his life.

James is buried with his wife, Harriett. His son, Everett, and two daughters, Della Gose and Ruth Mason, are buried in the same cemetery.
