Florence Smith, 77, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at Highland Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg. Born April 19, 1927, in Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late Malcom and Mary Bartley Sexton. She was a housewife. Survivors include two sons, John Smith of Boons Camp, and Raleigh Smith of Thealka; four daughters, Brenda Fraley of West Van Lear, Margarett Decker of Thealka, Mary Yancy of Louisville, and Linda Hamilton of Tutor Key; three brothers, Ivan Sexton of Ranier, Ore., Verlin Sexton of Mansfield, Ohio, and Douglas Williams of Shelby, Ohio; four sisters, Opal Holbrook of Pikeville, Anna Lee Kreutzer of St. Helens, Ore., Margarett Porter of Shiloh, Ohio, and Betty Rupp, of Ranier; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Sunday, June 6, at Thealka Freewill Baptist Church with Gary Blair officiating. Burial was in Smith Family Cemetery, Thealka, under direction of Phelps and Son Funeral Home, Hager Hill. Big Sandy News
