William James Black (Bill), 80, passed away peacefully in his LaZBoy on May 9th, 2022 at his home in N. Ft Myers, FL with his family by his side.

Bill was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 11, 1941 to Thelma Marie Whittaker-Black and Dr. Fred J. Black. Unfortunately, a very pregnant Thelma was evacuated from Manila, Philippines during WWII. Major Black was captured during the fall of Bataan and POW/MIA during his service with the United States Army.

We are at peace knowing that Monday, Bill finally met his father for the first time in God's presence.

On September 24th, 1966 he married the love of his life, Lyric (Ricki) Davis Black after three months of dating. They continued their life of love for 55 years and raised four children, Adrienne (Mike) Griffith and Danielle (Carl) Loftin of Dallas, TX, Colleen (Ron) Taylor and Dr.s Michael (Amy) Black of N. Ft Myers, FL.

Bill grew up in Monroe, MI on Lake Erie. He loved all things involving water and boating, which he continued to enjoy throughout his life. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1960. Starting in 1966, he was Co-Owner of "The Club", a teen nightclub. Bill earned his real estate license in 1971 and immediately started selling houses. He loved real estate and took every opportunity to educate himself, master his craft and teach others. He was a full time Broker/Owner of Century 21 Village Real Estate and later Village Properties in Monroe from 1979-1999. During this time he was twice President of the Monroe Board of Realtors and was the main motivator in establishing the first MLS in Monroe County. Bill and Ricki moved to SW Florida where he continued working with Remax, Cape Coral, FL earning the prestigious Realtor Emeritus award and had 50 consecutive years of sales experience. In true Bill fashion, he currently left us with a pending deal when he decided to check out.

In addition to his wife and children, Bill is survived by his brother, Bob (Val) Wadsworth of Tampa, FL, and his grandchildren Kyle(Hannah), Drew, Casey Griffith and Taylor Black.

There will be no services at this time as Bill's wish was to be donated to the University of Florida for medical research. In lieu of flowers, please direct any memorials to the D.O.V.E Foundation, P.O. Box 350741, Toledo, OH 43635 (www.dovefund.org).
