Clara Beatrice Crawford Wester, the oldest child of Earl and Mattie Kennemer Asher, was born September 19, 1912, near Seymour, in Webster County, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, September 30, 2002, in Woodland Manor, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of ninety years, and eleven days.
In 1932, she was united in marriage to Tommie Crawford and together they shared nineteen years before his passing in 1951.
In 1957, she married George Lloyd Wester, who preceded her in death in 1979.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; two infant sons; a son-in-law, Jack Acker; an infant granddaughter; a great-grandson, Jeffrey Acker; two brothers, Loyd and Orval Asher; a sister, Cleo Crawford; and a half-sister, Pearl Coats.
Clara is survived by two sons, Bob Crawford, and his wife, Metta, of Niangua, Missouri, and Jack Crawford, and his wife, June, of Springfield, Missouri; a daughter, Phyllis Acker, of Springfield, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Tommie Crawford, Terri Crawford, Sue Blankenship, Charles Crawford, and his wife, Julie, Barbara Garton, and her husband, Alan, Robert A. Crawford, and John Acker, and his wife, Leslie; eight great-grandchildren, Amy, Jack, Chris, Emily, Tracy, Justin, Lauren, and Jared; a brother, Harry Asher, and his wife, Pat, of Seymour, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Seymour community, and attended Seymour High School. She then attended nursing school and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. After she and Tommie were married, they made their home in the Seymour area, and lovingly raised their children. In 1957, Clara moved to Springfield, where she and George made their home. Besides being a devoted and hardworking homemaker, Clara also was a past administrator of the Webster County Nursing Home for several years, and also worked as a L.P.N. for St. John's Mercy Villa until retiring.
Clara made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life, and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, near Seymour. Since moving to Springfield, she had attended Grace Bible Church and Seminole Baptist Church.
She enjoyed working in her flower garden, doing creative writing projects, including poetry, and also loved to travel. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Clara was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Services will be heldat 2:30p.m., Thursday, October 3, 2002 in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Seymour Masonic Cemetery under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Seymour, Missouri.
