Gloria Daniel: devoted family member, adventurer, lover, and friend, died peacefully on Monday, April 18, 2022, at St. David's Hospital surrounded by loved ones wishing her well into the next life.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband Curtis Daniel, mother Alexandra Silva, father Valentine De La Fuente, step-father John Silva Sr., sister Patricia Ann Silva, brother John Silva Jr. and his wife Sharon.

Gloria was born in San Antonio on January 15, 1950, to proud parents, Valentino De La Fuente, and Alexandra Alcoser. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School (San Antonio) in 1968, where she exceled academically, was very popular, and recognized as being the first female member of the high school's Army ROTC. Gloria's outer natural beauty was only exceeded by her inner beauty. A combination of good looks and kind heart were attributes which often attracted people to her. Following her graduation, she worked at HEB Corporate Headquarters as secretary for one of Chief Executive Officers, during their early years of expansion throughout Texas. While volunteering at Fort Sam Houston Military Hospital she met Curtis Daniel, a rancher and U.S. Army veteran. While caring and aiding in his recovery from surgery, Curtis asked her to marry him, promising to care for her forever. Gloria accepted and they were married in Bexar County on November 19, 1983. True love grew and they became inseparable until his death in 2006. Travel was a shared passion of theirs. They spent many months in Mexico where Gloria posed, and Curtis painted her and created the famous mermaid portrait which still hangs in their home. Gloria would always say Curtis was her biggest fan.

Gloria has been a faithful and beloved member of Marshall Ford Fellowship Church in Austin, Texas. She supported their work and goals during her life and does so hereafter. Church members were so close to her, she welcomed them as her family in the worship of the Lord.

Throughout her life Gloria was most interested in helping others and is described by family and friends as nurturing, caring, and strong in her faith, mixed with an abundance of free spirit. Gloria was the family "shutter bug". She loved to take, and pose, for photos, which served to record memories and family gatherings Her unstoppable courage was shown in how she always moved forward despite her health issues. When Gloria, then in her early 20s, was diagnosed with Lupus, her bravery and indefatigable positive attitude never wavered. Her infectious positive attitude was felt by all whom she came in touch with. Her body finally submitted to the health struggles and now she has left us and joins her greatest love, her husband, Curtis. We are all better, having been blessed with her presence and grateful for her guidance and faith. The memories of Gloria and all she accomplished in service to others, are treasures which will be forever cherished by all.
