Lois Arlene Perkins, age 92, of Hastings, Iowa, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the Midlands Living Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Lois was born October 30, 1929, at the family home near Riverton, Iowa, the daughter of Orval and Anna (Baker) Jones. She was raised in southwest Iowa and graduated from Tabor High School. Lois was united in marriage to Jesse Junior Perkins on October 6, 1947, in Tabor, Iowa. They lived in several southwest Iowa towns before settling in the Hastings, Iowa area in the late 1950's. Over the years, Lois worked as the Hastings City Clerk, Nishna Valley School Board Secretary, and retired after 25 years at Perkins Service Station in Hastings, Iowa. She was a longtime member of the Hastings United Methodist Church and was very active in United Methodist Women. Her hobbies include quilting, sewing, gardening camping, fishing, traveling, and cooking. She was known for her famous homemade chicken and noodles.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Jesse Junior Perkins; son: Jay Perkins; and siblings: Wayne Jones, Max Jones, Harry Jones, Virginia Johnston, and Clara Mohatt. Survivors include her children: Patricia Trainer and husband Jerry of Lincoln, NE; Carol Hanssen and husband Randy of Johnston, IA; and Russell Perkins and wife Betty of Hermitage, MO; daughter-in-law: Susan Perkins of Hastings, IA; grandchildren: Jennifer Gillman of Elkhorn, NE; Brad Trainer of Lincoln, NE; Brooke Trainer of Arlington, TX; Wesley Sowers and wife Allison of Bettendorf, IA; Dustin Sowers and wife Gaby of Johnston, IA; Ryan Hanssen and wife Lynsie of Johnston, IA; Devin Hanssen and wife Sarah of Ankeny, IA; Laura Hatcher and husband Troy of Hastings, IA; Casey Perkins and wife Melanie of Liberty Hill, TX; Brett Hansen and wife Jessie of Baldwin City, KS; Jesse Perkins and wife Deanna of Glenwood, IA; Kristin Perkins of Emerson, IA; and Matt Perkins and wife Ingrid of Emerson, IA; great grandchildren: Berkeley, Bo, and Bennet Gillman; William, Reagan, Olivia, and Sophia Sowers; Brayden, Jayce, and Elianna Hanssen; Amanda Blok and husband Tim; Austin Hatcher; Josie, Carson and Cole Perkins; Nick Perkins and wife Lulu; Nate Perkins; Isabelle Allen and husband Levi; and Mason and Johnathan Perkins; great great grandchildren: Savannah and Lucas Blok and Jack Allen; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, May 20, 2022, at the Hastings United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Hastings Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Hastings Cemetery Association. There will be a luncheon at the Hastings United Methodist Church immediately following the burial.
