Obituary for Bryan Nelson
Bryan Frank Nelson, 57, passed away very peacefully in the morning of December 11, 2021 after a very long and painful with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and subsequent complications of treatment. He had a brief respite of being both cancer-free and free of Graft vs Host Disease in 2021 before relapsing. Despite aggressive treatment, the strongest of men yielded his will into the hands of a waiting Heavenly Father.

Bryan was born February 5, 1964 in Granger, Utah to loving parents, J. Dewey and Clarice Ann Nelson. He graduated from Lodi HS in Lodi, California and attended San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton, California. He furthered his education in Price, Utah at the College of Eastern Utah earning an associates degree. He went on to get a teaching certificate.

Raised on dairy farms, Bryan's interests became more drawn to fixing the farming equipment, though he dutifully worked alongside his family in all facets of that hard farming life. He fixed lawnmowers and engines both large and small. It was apparent his livelihood would be made by the strength of his hands and the sweat of his brow.

On March 23, 1987, he married Holly Ann Carper. They were later divorced. After working for various auto shops as a mechanic to support his wife and growing family, he was given the position of Shop Foreman at Timp Rental Center. During his employment there, he met his future wife, Janet Ellen Burr, when a mutual friend brought her car to him to fix. They were married June 3, 2000 in Pleasant Grove, Utah. A joyous occasion for Bryan and Janet occurred when they were sealed in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple on April 29, 2021.

Not long after receiving his teaching certificate, Bryan went on to work at Grand Valley High School in Moab, Utah. While there, he taught auto mechanics and assisted in opening their new automotive shop. While his heart remained in teaching in the public school system, Bryan chose to further advance his career as a Skills Trainer at the Chrysler Training Center in Ontario, California. When an opening came to move with the company back to Utah and teach at the Chrysler Training Center in Logan, Utah, Bryan jumped at the chance to return to be closer to his family.

His hobbies included listening to music, fixing engines, wood burning, leather work, writing essays and poetry, joke telling, song writing, playing the guitar, drawing house plans and RV plans. When time and energy allowed, he was playing basketball, designing machines, or inventing new ways to make everything automotive easier.
It was in his nature to always serve others. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bryan's church service included a full-time mission to Guatemala, a member of various Bishoprics and Branch Presidencies, Elders Quorum President, Sunday School teacher, Ward Missionary, Scout leader, Sunday School Presidency member, Young Men's leader, and Nursery leader. His greatest desire was to return to the mission field and serve again as a full-time missionary with his full-time companion, Janet. Bryan was always using his hands to serve in any capacity available.

Bryan will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was honest, trustworthy, compassionate, sensitive, loving, and loyal—a good friend to all.

Bryan is survived by his wife, Janet, and children Joseph (Alexie) Nelson, Michael (Hilary) Nelson, Sterling (Kara) Black, Ashley Black, Walker (Katie) Black, Madison Nelson and grandchildren Daniel and Nathan Nelson and August Nelson. Bryan is also survived by his parents J. Dewey and Clarice Ann Nelson, plus siblings Raquel (Gary) Hutton, Rosalie (Jim) Peterson, Nils (Becky) Nelson, and John (Julie) Nelson.
