Joseph's birth has been recorded in Pfeifer, KS, Holy Cross Church as June 26, 1880.
There is a probate announcement in the Ellis County News Republican dated April 10,1897 with a final settlement date of April 16, 1897 - his mother Catharina Mader is listed as Executrix.
Based on this information, we believe Joseph died in the early months of 1897 (unless probate process was lengthy, and it started in 1896). It appears he was 17 years old at time of his death.
Joseph & his brother John (incorrectly transcribed as Soger Meter on ancestry) ARE listed in the March 1, 1895 Kansas State Census in the URBAN household, Ellis County, Freedom Locality, Volume 119, page 7. His mother married shortly after his fathers death to Matthew Urban in 1882.
