1 Feb 1939
Michael H. Himes, a resident of near Coolspring during all but a few years of his life, died in his home there Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock at the age of 72 years. Death was caused by a heart condition with which he had suffered for some time. The deceased was born in Shannondale, October 11, 1866, a son of John and Susanna (Wolfgang) Himes. As a young boy he came to the home in which he died and on August 7, 1897, he was united in marriage to Miss Laura L. Stahlman, who preceded him in death. He was a devout member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and spent most of his life competently managing his farm. A kind friend and an industrious worker, he was respected and loved by all who knew him and his death has left a real void in that community. He is survived by four sons and six daughters: Harry Himes and Mrs. Charles Cressley, of Coolspring; Clair Himes, of Blairsville; Mrs. Ralph Young, Mrs. Lulu Hetrick and Mrs. Alton Smith, of Ohl; Mrs. Charles Burkett, of Markton; John, of Mayport, Wilson, of Wilcox, and Miss Sarah Himes at home. Four sisters and two brothers also survive: Mrs. Samuel Frederick, Mrs. Ida Bullock, Mrs. Emma Wall, Mrs. Roy Dobson, G.L. and Frank Himes. Funeral services will be held in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Saturday afternoon beginning at 2 o'clock with Rev. Michael Goldner officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
(Note: Laura Stahlman Himes did not die until 1851.)
