Naomi Nowlin, 92, of St. Joseph passed away Saturday, March 21, 2015, at her residence.
A celebration of life service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, at Oakridge Baptist Church, 766 Oakridge Drive, St. Joseph, with Pastor Scott Reeves and Chaplain Julie Leahy officiating. Burial will follow in North Shore Memory Gardens. Friends may visit from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service. Memorial may be made to Oakridge Baptist Church.
Naomi was born Sept. 3, 1922 in South Norfolk, Va., to Harry and Ina (Young) McPherson. She married Alfred Nowlin in St. Joseph. She retired from Whirlpool Corp. in 1983 after 26 years as a legal secretary. She was a member of Oakridge Baptist Church and active at the St. Joseph-Lincoln Senior Center. In Naomi's free time, she loved reading, water color painting, traveling and spending her summers at Sandy Pines. She was known as a Christian lady with a deep faith and sharing her faith in God with others.
Naomi is survived by her children: Sherry (Doug) Podjan, Warren (Karen) Disbrow , Marge Bishop and June (Scott) Simonton; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a niece and nephew. She was preceded in death by her parent; her husband, Alfred Nowlin; brother, Freeman and David McPherson; and a son-in-law, August Bishop.
