Walter C. "Buck" Smith, Jr., 88, passed away Monday, May 9, 2022 at his residence. He was born April 17, 1934 to Walter and Ruth Bragg Smith and lived here all of his life. Buck was retired from Georgia Power Company as a line crew foreman after 27 years, working and installing power all over the state of Georgia. He then worked Civil Service at Ft. Stewart for many years and was a lifelong farmer. Buck was a member of the Country Boy Plow Club, the Georgia Power Ambassadors and the Ohoopee Hunting Club. He loved to be outdoors, spend time at the coast, ride his horses and mules, farm, garden and be with his family. Buck was a member of Watermelon Creek Baptist Church and the Senior Adult Sunday School Class. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Joe "Sambo" Smith, sisters, Edna Gardner, Evelyn "Bo" Hook, grandson, Greg Allen and son-in-law, Billy Allen.

He is survived by:

Wife of 69 years, Betty Sue Smith of Glennville, Georgia

Children, Mitchell Smith (Lisa)
Betty Ann Brannen (Bobby)
Wanda Sue Allen (Grady Blaxton)
Glenn Smith (Beverly)
Jane Branch (Keith) all of Glennville, Georgia

Grandchildren, Joe Banks (Valorie), Amy Quick (Lee), Tori Boyett (Landon),
Trevor Smith, Zach Allen, Casey Strickland (Evan), Evan Smith

Sister, Jency Ann "Sister" Brannen of Glennville, Georgia

Twelve great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm, Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, May 13, 2022 at the chapel of Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Glennville City Cemetery.
