Mrs. Anna Louisa Freed, 84, a resident of Ottumwa died at 12:10 PM at her home, 1108 Hayne Street. She was the wife of Otto L. Freed, who survives her.
She came to the United States with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Hokanson, in 1871. The family came directly to Ottumwa. She was married to Otto Freed, December 8, 1891, at Derby. She was confirmed and became a member of the First Lutheran church in 1883 and was also a member of the Concordia society of the church.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons, Carl Freed, Elmhurst, Ill.; Albert W. Freed, Ottumwa, and Elmer W. 'Pete' Freed, Washington D.C.,and two daughters, Florence Freed, Ottumwa and Evelyn M. Steele, Eldon and seven grandchildren of which one, Walter Freed of Des Moines, was raised by Mrs. Freed. Seven great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister and two daughters, Mamie, who died in 1951 and Ruth in 1921.
