Dorothy Loretta Knee Cunningham (94) passed from her earthly family to her heavenly family May 9, 2022 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Danville, Illinois.

Born March 1, 1928 in Danville, the daughter of William Jacob Knee and Wanda Juanita Van Lieu. Siblings (deceased) Ronald W. Knee, Lenard M. Knee, William Dale Knee and infant Knee.

As a young lady, she worked at Commercial News and ate lunch at the Deluxe.

Dorothy married her high school sweetheart, Glenn Aldon Cunningham (deceased) on December 8, 1946. They farmed together for 41 years with grain and livestock.

Together they raised 6 children, Susan J. Rutan (Allen), Sally J. Brash (Michael), Gregory A. Cunningham (Sue), Douglas R. Cunningham (Tammy), Jennifer L. Meade (Doug), Jane A. Ninde (Brian).

Grandchildren; Sandy (Dan) Chandler, Elizabeth (Nathan) Alt; Victoria (Cory) Brown, Becky (Lance) Russell, Shannon (Fiance' Chris Otto) Miller, Wesley (Kerrie) Brash, Robert (fiancée Julie Sollars) Brash, Gregory Adam (Brook) Cunningham, Joshua Cunninghan, Jackie (Jake) Musselman, Travis (Mandy) Cunningham, Jessica (James) Hagley, Grant Meade, Michael (Dani) Tucker and Andrea (Vincent) Sell.

Great grandchildren; Caleb Alt, Zachary Alt, Ava Alt, Ainzley Brown, Zoe Brown, Reuben Brown, Casey Russell, ,Emma Russell, Brenden Cunningham, Rycelyn Cunningham, Alex Hagley, Katie Hagley, Lucas Hagley, Cole Tucker, Cali Tucker, Theodore Sell, Cecilia Sell and Tiberius Sell.

Our blended family members, Steven (Jamie) Brown, Damian (Vickie) Dietz, Dylan Brown, Dalton Brown, Todd Ellis, Theodore Ellis,, Donald Ellis, Robert Ellis, Cleo Sollars and Chloe Sollars.

Our mom loved her family and she was fun to have around. As an expert homemaker and seamstress she helped with 4-H, she was a Sunday School teacher and worked at So-Fro fabrics for a time. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, sewing, jigsaw puzzles, word search and reading her Bible. She taught herself how to knit at the age of 82 and presented knitted scarfs for all the girls at Christmas! But then decided that crocheting was better and laid her needles down.

Our mother was a dedicated and loving spouse to our father. While he was hospitalized with a head injury, she visited him most every day, whether he was at the Indianapolis VA or Danville VA. It was during that time that she crocheted large pieces; one being 5-foot in diameter round tablecloth.

Dorothy was a member of Second Church of Christ and she enjoyed attending services and signing praises to her Lord. When she was able, she helped serve and prepare food for funeral dinners and prepared communion. She enjoyed serving other people.

Mom's busy hands are now at rest from her earthly labors, because her Lord and Savior has called her home. Praise to the King.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Second Church of Christ in Danville, Illinois, 3550 E Voorhees St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Greg Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Corner Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834.
