Judi was of the Christian faith and a member of the Garden Creek Church of Christ. She retired from Mutter Insurance Agency after 34 years as a commercial insurance representative. She enjoyed listening to Bluegrass Music and going to Bluegrass festivals. She loved taking photos of her grandchildren and most of all spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. Loving daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Delmar Smith.
Those left to cherish her memories in addition to her mother, Easter Elizabeth Ratliff of Bristol, TN includes her daughter, Sunshine (Derek) Melhuish of Woodbine, MD; three sons, Nathan Smith of Woodstock, VA, Byron (Veronica) Smith of Zebulon, NC, and Andrew Smith of Duffield, VA; two sisters, Mitzi (Randal) James of Rosedale, VA and Carla (Morgan) Clifton of Abingdon, VA; and one brother, Steve (Shelia) Ratliff of Bristol, TN.
She is also survived by eleven special grandchildren, Derian Melhuish, Trevor Melhuish, Caroline Melhuish, Mason Melhuish, Gavin Melhuish, Lillie Johnstone, Cole Smith, Molly Smith, Nolan Smith, Gemma Smith, and Rory Smith; many nieces and nephews; and all of her friends and family at Mutter Insurance in Grundy, VA.
Funeral services for Judith "Judi" Carolyn Ratliff Smith will be conducted Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel at Keen Mountain, VA with Evangelist Mike Rife officiating.
A graveside service will take place on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Ratliff Cemetery on Youngs Branch, Garden Creek Rd in Oakwood, VA.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 14th from 6:00 p.m. until hour of service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers will be family and friends.
