Services for Carol A. Duckworth, 59, Lawrence, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Graveside services are pending at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Parkersburg, W. Va.

Ms. Duckworth died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998, at Stormont Vail Regional Medical Center, Topeka.

She was born Aug. 13, 1939, in Parkersburg, W.Va., the daughter of Francis M. and Myrtle L. King Cottrill.

She graduated from Parkersburg, W.Va., High School in 1957.

She had lived in Lawrence since 1975. She worked as an office manager and accountant in the Lawrence real estate market for many years.

She was a member of the Arc (Association for Retarded Citizens) and served on the national board and human resource and nomination committees. She was past president, vice president and secretary of the local and state associations.

She graduated from the Lawrence Police Department Citizens Academy in 1993 and graduated with the Leadership Lawrence Class of 1987-1988. She was a past member of the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce and Envoy Committee. She received the Distinguished Service Award in 1993 from the Arc of Kansas and the Volunteer of the Year award by the F.O.E. Auxiliary 309.

Survivors include her mother, Myrtle Burdette; her stepfather, Michael C. Burdette, both of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two daughters, Cindy Kramer, Peachtree City, Ga., and Tina Duckworth, Lawrence; a brother, Bruce Cottrill, Fairport, N.Y.; and three grandchildren.
