Joseph Beals Parsons had a sister Mary Elizabeth Parsons, B: June 9, 1835 D: Sept. 20, 1852. He also could have had a brother Sawyer but I haven't been able to find any info on him.
Enlisted in Company H, Maine 25th Infantry Regiment on 29 Sep 1862. Mustered out on 10 Jul 1863 at Portland, ME. He was a Pvt.
His wife, Elizabeth, received a $10 a month pension after he was shot and killed in the line of duty as a railroad detective.
The name was McParsons but on coming to America the Mc was dropped and the family name was then changed to Parsons.
