John Greene Harrington, 67, of Florence, SC, and formerly State College, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 8, 2022. John was a veteran of the US Navy, stationed in San Diego, California. He was a trained sonar technician and graduated at the top of his class in "C" School in San Diego. John was a gifted athlete, competing in bodybuilding, powerlifting and wrestling. He went to the Olympic trials for Greco Roman style wrestling. While in San Diego John also enjoyed reaching out to troubled youth through sports, changing many individual lives through his keen skills in coaching and leadership. His compassion to make a difference was a passion of his throughout his life. John graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Penn State University in Exercise and Sports Science as he loved fitness, sports, and personal training. John was also a fine entrepreneur, starting his own landscaping and firewood business.
John was very bright and had a photographic memory, remembering detailed information and time-lines whenever requested. John also had an inspiring sense of humor as he could create laughter in most situations.
Most importantly, John knew the uncertainty of this life having confidence and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ for his salvation and eternal life after death. John 11:25 says, "Jesus said to her, 'I am the Resurrection and the Life. Whoever believes in Me, although he may die, yet he shall live.'"
