Michael David Lewis
March 5, 1970 - May 6, 2022

"Michael David Lewis, age 52 of Rehoboth Beach, DE and formerly of New Castle, DE, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2022. He was born in Wilmington, DE on March 5, 1970, son of the late Francis and Judith (Bratton) Lewis.

Michael graduated from St. Elizabeth High School in 1988 and the University of Delaware in 1993.
He walked his own path and worked in several industries during his life, but the only thing that he kept going back to and truly loved was fishing. Michael loved everything about fishing, he could talk your ears off about the boats he worked on, the people he met, the customers he helped, and the fish he caught. He recently landed his dream job of fishing full time, year-round and was looking forward to the opportunity and the adventures ahead. Thank you to everyone in his fishing community who took him under their wings and helped him find his passion.

Michael was a gifted and talented athlete, excelling in both basketball and baseball. He played both while at Our Lady of Fatima, where he was known as "Spud" on the basketball team. Michael played for Wilmington Manor Gardens and Delaware City teams, winning multiple championships as a kid. He also played Varsity Baseball at St. Elizabeth High School and was a member of the 1987 team that played in the State Semifinals.

Anyone who knew Michael knew his other loves were the Pittsburgh Steelers (6x Super Bowl Champs, which he would casually mention to anyone, especially his brother, a Cowboys fan), the NBA, and the G.O.A.T. Michael Jordan.

Above all, Michael was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a shining example of service to others and will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.

Lastly, he loved his family, most importantly his mother prior to her passing in 2008. Later in life he developed a close relationship with his father before his passing in 2021.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at 3:00 PM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Michael's memory to Limen Recovery & Wellness, at www.limende.org, or the Ocean City Reef Foundation (OCRF)."
