Anthony Keith "Tony" Smith, 67, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away at home on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 after a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Clarksburg on November 27, 1954, a son of the late Basil and Elizabeth (Cleavenger) Smith. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sharon Kay (Denham) Smith.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters: Emmalee Dawson and husband Joshua of Nutter Fort and their children Samuel and Georgia, and Haley Throne and husband Jared of Richmond, VA; step-son, Kevin Hess and wife Kathy of Bridgeport and their son Evan; one brother, Joe Smith and wife Maria of Winter Park, FL; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Anthony was preceded in death by four siblings: Danny Cleavenger, Eileen Wickenhofer, David John Smith, and Cheryl Vanscoy.
Tony was a graduate of Liberty High School and Fairmont State College where he studied aviation maintenance. He served his country honorably in the United States Army for six years and went on to work for Pratt & Whitney, where he retired as an NDT Inspector in 2016. Tony was also a great mechanic and master carpenter. Along with his wife he attended New Hope Christian Independent Church in Reynoldsville and was always willing to help anyone in any way he could. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. His favorite spots were at Stone Coal Lake and Canaan Valley, where many memories were made. Tony also enjoyed yard sales and long drives in the country.
Tony's wishes for cremation will be honored and no public services will be held.
