He was born on April 6, 1947, to Johnny Allen and Leah Frances (Burns) Farmer in Shelbyville.
John was a 1965 graduate of Anderson High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force at Vandenberg AFB in California, serving a tour of duty in Vietnam.
For 42 years, John was an auto mechanic for Chrysler-Plymouth Dodge. He was a race car enthusiast who also served as crew chief for several teams. Most of all, John loved his grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughters, Rebecca (Todd) Hollowell and April (Brian) Finch; grandchildren, Hunter and Hayden Hollowell, and Haylea, Hannah and Hogan Finch; and his sisters, Joyce Grant and Susan Johnson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Betty Ann Stricklin Farmer; and brother, William "Butch" Buell.
Graveside services will take place on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville for all who wish to attend.
