Born March 30, 1934, in Colleton County, South Carolina, he was a son of the late John T. Hale, Sr. and the late Evie Bennett Hale. He served our country faithfully in the United States Navy and was a retired agent from American General Life Insurance Company. He was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church and will always be remembered for his love of fishing as well as gardening.
Surviving are: his wife, Marjorie Hale, a son, Gary Hale, Sr. of Walterboro; a daughter, Teresa "Terry" Hale Byrd and her husband Charles of Walterboro; three grandchildren, Gary Hale, Jr. (Therasia), Sheryl Hale Dandridge (Aaron), Christina "Christy" Byrd Watkins (Phil), a step-grandchild, Kevin McCubbins; and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Cindy McCubbins Hale; a great granddaughter, Alyssa O'Quinn; and two brothers, Carroll Hale and Tom Hale.
