On May 9, Coach Lynn McDonald experienced his greatest win yet, as he left this Earth and went home to be with his Heavenly Father after a courageous ten-month battle with cancer.

Lynn was born in San Marcos, Texas to Vernon & Dolores McDonald. He grew up there in and around the campus of Southwest Texas State University, as his mother and father were both educators in the community. He met his sweetheart Amy Evans in high school, and shortly after they graduated, they were happily married.

Lynn played basketball for SWT all four years while in college, and after graduation, he and Amy moved to the south side of Houston to a growing community called Clear Lake, where they started a family and raised their two daughters. Lynn spent the next 32 years of his career coaching boys basketball and impacting the lives of hundreds of young men over the course of four decades. In April of this year, the school district honored his contributions and accomplishments to Clear Lake by naming the basketball court at Clear Lake High School the "Coach Lynn McDonald Court".

After retirement, Lynn spent the last 13+ years, traveling the globe with his wife Amy and spending time with his two daughters and three grandchildren which he loved with all of his heart and took such great joy in being around.

Lynn will be remembered as a dedicated servant of the Lord, who fervently loved Jesus, his wife and family, as well as the extended family of his friends and players over the years. His love, laughter, and presence will be deeply missed, but we are joyful in the knowledge that he is now healthy and whole resting eternally in the arms of the Lord.

For those wishing to honor Lynn, the family is hosting a viewing and visitation from 5:30-7:30pm on Sunday, May 15th at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas. A Celebration of Life Service for Lynn will be held at 10am on Monday May 16th at University Baptist Church, 16106 Middlebrook Dr, Houston, TX 77059 with a graveside service to follow at the Forest Park East Cemetery.
