A time for visitation will be from 4-7pm on Thursday, February 3 at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth and one hour prior to the service at church. Bob was born on February 5, 1930 in rural Faribault County to William Howard and Anna Irene (Guckeen) Murphy. He attended Guckeen school until 8th grade and completed two years of high school in Blue Earth. On October 9, 1950, he married Margaret "Marge" Jeffries in Guckeen. The couple was blessed with 8 children and many wonderful years together. After her passing, he later married longtime friend, Angie Giesinger in 2004. He was a lifelong farmer and also a chef and supervisor for 28 years at Fairmont Foods. Bob was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Guckeen.

Bob had a big personality and enjoyed dancing, traveling, woodworking, playing cards, going to casinos, having coffee with the guys at the Derby, and wintering in Arizona. He was 100 percent Irish, and on his 25th anniversary with Marge, the couple traveled to Ireland. He was very proud of his heritage. Bob had a large family, and his children and grandchildren were very important to him. He was known and loved for his big smile and his quick wit.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Connie Murphy (Brian Blow) of Howard Lake, Jim Murphy (Friend, Merilee) of Guckeen, Greg (Dixie) Murphy of Farimont, Judy (John) Herdan of Albertville, Pat (Jim) Marvin of Ft. Collins, CO, Cindy (Craig) Oseland of Stillwater, Mitch (Diane) Murphy of Guckeen, and Kelly (Sherri) Murphy of Reads Landing; Tonio, honorary son from Costa Rica; sister, Marlene Winter of Rake, IA; 24 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mary Beaber of Durango, CO, and Dorothy (Larry Bilek) Jeffries of Osceola, WI; Angie's children, Dianne (Marlin) Larson, Kenneth (Kay) Giesinger, Donald (Diane) Giesinger, Randy (DeeDee) Giesinger, and Lee (Val) Giesinger; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marge in 2002; second wife, Angie in 2018; his parents; Marge's parents, Jim & Gusty Jeffries; brothers, Donald, Ray (Carmel), and Harold (Shirley) Murphy; brothers-in-law, John (Bernie) Jeffries, Paul Beaber, and Jerry Winter; daughters-in-law, Debra Murphy and Elise Murphy; and Angie's daughter, Lori (Kim) Kerns.

Bob considered himself the richest man in the world... because he had enough!
