Robert (Bob) W. Parker, 89 of Montclair passed away on Saturday April 30, 2022.

Bob began his life on December 7, 1932 in Pemberton, WV. He was the fourth of eleven children. He graduated from Sophia High School in 1951. He served our country as an Airman in the Air Force during the Korean War. He returned home and attended Concord College where he earned his bachelor's degree in Education. He went on to receive his Master's degree in Marine Biology from Marshall University.

On June 5, 1962 he married Julia Ann Dunn and they continued to be devoted to one another for 60 years. In 1963 they moved to Virginia and called it home as they raised a family, built careers and served the community.

Bob was a beloved Biology teacher (Bio Bob) and coach at Woodbridge HS for 26 years. His passion for his students was known far and wide as he touched many lives over the course of his career. Long after retirement, former students would stop him and thank him for the influence he had in their lives. He coached many after school activities and clubs as well as various sports. He began the cross county program and was the first assistant coach for the golf team.

The golf course was another favorite place and he could always be found on the course on a Saturday morning. After retirement his game improved even more and he even shot 5 holes in one. A fun fact that he was very humble about achieving except when in the company of his brothers where his competitive nature took over!

His membership at Covenant Presbyterian Church spanned over 55 years. He loved to serve and give of his time as an Elder, a Deacon, working with the youth group, mowing the grass or planting to make the grounds beautiful at church. His friendly way made all who knew him feel like an old friend.

All these titles were incredible however it was the role of husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother that made him extraordinary. His family was never far from his mind whether he was at work or at play. By those who knew and loved him, Bob will be remembered as a man who never met a stranger, always was the last to leave a gathering, a generous friend, a fierce competitor and someone who always made you feel important.

Bob is survived by his wife, Julia, daughter Jennifer Haszard (Alex), son Kevin (Michelle), 5 grandchildren Claire Parker Dwiggins (Jack), Mallory Parker, Allison Haszard, Ryan Haszard and Joshua Parker, 2 brothers Jack (Marianne) and John, one sister Norma Walker and one sister in law Sarah Parker. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents Emmitt and Helen, 6 brothers Lloyd, Bill, Frank, Buck, Danny and Jim and one sister Doris Peters.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 12, 2022 from 6-8 p.m. at the Mountcastle Funeral Home 4143 Dale Blvd. Dale City VA. A celebration of life will be on May 13, 2022 at 11:30 also at Mountcastle followed by graveside services at Quantico Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Rd Triangle, VA at 1pm.
