Bobby was born on February 22, 1936, in Pikeville, KY., the son of Samie Adkins and Ivy (Allen) Adkins. He received his GED and proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served his country during the Korean conflict as a police officer. He married the love of his life Glenna Sue Daniels on December 22, 1958, in Clintwood, Virginia. They shared 61 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on August 23, 2020. Bobby was passionate about spreading the gospel and became a Baptist Minister. He was a faithful member of the Bethesda Freewill Baptist Church in Andrews, IN. He enjoyed going to auctions, flea markets, hunting and fishing. He loved to play golf and watch Tiger Woods on TV. He was a wonderful provider and devoted family man.
Survivors include his two daughters, Teresa A. (Jon) West of Ft. Wayne, IN., Sheila Anders of Huntington, IN; son, Jeffery Adkins of Ossian, IN; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brother, Mike Adkins of Huntington, IN.; three sisters, Deloris (Leo) Fanning of Melbourne, FL, Freida Teusch of Ft. Wayne, IN., and Patty (David) McCormick of Melbourne, FL. He is preceded in death by his wife, Glenna Sue Adkins, son, Bobby L. Adkins, Jr., father, Samie L. Adkins, mother, Ivy M. Adkins, brothers, Samie Adkins, Jr., Frank Adkins, and Paul Adkins.
Visitation will be from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm Thursday, May 12, 2022, at Bethesda Freewill Baptist Church 116 S. Main Street, Andrews, IN. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, May 13, 2022, at Bethesda Freewill Baptist Church in Andrews with Pastor Tod Masters officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will be 10:00 am Monday, 16, 2022 in Marion National Cemetery in Marion.
