Shirley E. Brown, 76, of Fort Gratiot, died Sunday, May 8, 2022.

She was born August 8, 1945 in Port Huron to the late Charles and Vera Ameel. She married John M. Brown on June 27, 1964 in Port Huron. He preceded her in death on March 11, 2022 after 57 years of marriage.

Shirley was a foster mother to more than 50 children over the years. She loved gardening, cooking for her family and friends and taking pictures of everything around her. Shirley had a soft spot for all animals and had a beautiful Koi Pond which was a common subject of her photography.

She is survived by eight siblings, Gail Petipren, Gloria (Don) Struthers, Robert Ameel, Dawn Porter, Richard (Virginia) Ameel, Patricia (Buck) LaGosh, Kathy McDonald and Melody (Robert) Fuller; former sister-in-law, Somona Ameel-Goyette; brothers-in law and sisters-in-law, Perry (Sandra) Brown, Carol (Cary) Hann, Marge Thomas (Bradley Willett) and Ted Golubinski; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Jeannette Weaver; and brother, Charles Ameel.

Private family services will be held.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Garden Cemetery, Fort Gratiot Township.
