Adelphia Shirck. The funeral for Adelphia R. Shirck, 85, of Fremont will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Fremont. She died Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, in Fremont Area Medical Center. Adelphia Pishny was born Oct. 13, 1918, in Waterville, Kan. She grew up on the farm where she was born and graduated from high school in Waterville. She then attended business college in Lincoln and lived briefly in California. She married James F. Shirck on Sept. 6, 1942, near Waterville. They lived in Fremont while he was attending seminary here. They lived in Greenleaf, Kan., Ellis, Kan., and Genoa, where they served churches. He retired in 1983 and they moved to Fremont that year.
She was a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church of Fremont and Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. She had been active in the quilters groups of the churches they were associate with, including St. Timothy.
Survivors include: her husband; a son, James R. Shirck of Austin, Texas; a daughter, Julia (Mrs. Terry) Hamre of Orinda, Calif.; a brother, Glen Pishny of Waterville; five grqandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
The Rev. John Polwman will officiate Friday's service Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Waterville.
