Born Helen Wardman on June 21st, 1931, in Marshalltown, she was the daughter and one of three children born to Christopher John and Leonora (Snyder) Wardman. Helen graduated from the Albion High School.
Helen was married to John Bailey and to that union, a daughter, Deborah and son, David, were born. She had a caring and giving personality that offered several people in the Marshalltown area in-home care.
She loved her cats - especially Ms. Kitty, who had lived with her since 2010. Helen was a talented wedding cake maker, seamstress for many dresses in the family and for friends, organ and piano player (was church organist for the Albion Presbyterian Church), and enjoyed her family history in Marshall County. She restored the second buggy produced by the Marshalltown Buggy Factory- now shown at the Albion museum. She loved playing cards, doing crafts, and fishing trips to Minnesota and Lake Michigan salmon fishing.
Surviving are her daughter, Deborah (Ronald) Hanson of Marshalltown; son David Bailey of Marshalltown; grandchildren; brother John Christopher "Bud" Wardman; and many lifelong friends near and far.
In death, Helen rejoined her parents and her sister, Genevieve Wardman Case.
