William "Bill" Carl Klekotta of Schulenburg passed away on Sunday, Nov. 10, and will join his beloved wife of 67 years, Sally, in eternal rest.

He was born Aug. 27, 1933 in Berea, Ohio. He joined the United States Air Force after graduating from high school. Bill served for over 20 years in the USAF as an airborne instructor in radio and electronics with over 5,000 flying hours in the KC-97 Stratofreighter refueling aircraft and he spent many more hours in B-29 Bomber, B-57, C130, C119, C121 and C47 aircrafts.

Military assignments took Bill to England, Spain, Africa, Guam, Japan, Okinawa, Philippines, Vietnam, Korea, and many more places. He attended many service schools and received many awards. He was a two-time AF Commendation Medal recipient for prolonged acts of heroism or meritorious service. Bill retired from the USAF-SAC in August 1971 and later worked over 30 years in hospital administration. He worked as director of plant services for Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Maine; Bur-net County Hospital, Burnet, Texas; and Baptist-St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo.

In 1952, Bill married Sara Jane "Sally" Mitchell. They had six children. Bill and Sally were members of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Fredericks-burg and after moving to Schulenburg in 2018, they became members of St. Rose Catholic Church. His beloved Sally passed in October 2018.

Survivors include three sons, Bill Klekotta and wife Kerry of Georgetown, Donald Klekotta of Kerrville, and Jerry Klekotta of Schulenburg; three daughters, Peggy Kavanagh and husband Larry of Marble Falls, Teresa Joy of Bangor, Maine, and Anne Colombo of Schulenburg; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many friends; and four-legged companions Charlie and Otis.

Services are scheduled at St. Barnabus Church in Fredericksburg on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in the St. Barnabas Columbarium where he will rest peacefully next to Sally.

His family writes that"with faith in our Lord's resurrection, we shall meet again."

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter at 240 Svoboda Lane, La Grange, TX 78945.
