MARION LOIS BROWN Marion Lois Brown was born to Justus and Eva Borchers in Nora Springs, Iowa on November 29, 1934. At six months old she moved to Chico, California with her parents and Grandmother. In sixth grade Marion met the love of her life, her husband of 69 years, Kay Vernon Brown. She was involved in 4-H through high school and she attended 4-H camp at Bucks Lake several times. Later Marion served as a 4-H leader as a sewing instructor. She was an excellent seamstress, as well as a master at knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, quilting, baking, gardening and was also an avid reader. Marion was a remarkable homemaker and one of her greatest joys in life was being a wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her family and friends and she hosted many gatherings that were held at the Brown family home. Marion started singing in the choir of the First Christian Church when she was in high school and continued for 56 years. She was devoted to her faith and her church and remained a member of the First Christian Church until she passed. Over the years, she served as a Sunday school teacher, a member of the Dorcas women's group and the Christian Women's Fellowship and volunteered her time in the office when needed. Marion took the time to visit the older shut-ins in the church and tended to her elderly family members as well. After they retired, Marion and her husband were able to travel extensively throughout the United States and to many countries around the world. Marion passed away peacefully in Chico on October 19, 2021, which was her 69th wedding anniversary to Kay. Marion was 86 years old and is preceded in death by her parents, Justus and Eva Borchers and her brother Justus Borchers Jr. Marion is survived by her husband, Kay Brown, her sister Mildred Chastain, her daughter's, Rox-Ann Brown and Rochelle Sargentini; her son-in-laws, Albert Smith and Steve Elming, three grandchildren, Matteo Sargentini, Emily Ecklund and her husband Adam Ecklund, and Casey Smith. She is also survived by her three great- granddaughters, Gianna, Selah and Kaiya. A memorial service to honor Marion will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at the First Christian Church, 295 East Washington Ave in Chico. In lieu of flowers, it was Marion's wish that donations be made to the First Christian Church of Chico.
