Death Notice - 9/29/2021 - The News-Herald - Willoughby, Ohio, USA - James W. McKinney, 63, a lifelong Mentor resident, died September 23, 2021, in Marshfield, Wisconsin. He was born October 22, 1957, in Lakewood, OH. A beloved son and brother, Jim was a long-distance truck driver and loved what he did. He was a very devoted Christian so his family knows that he is safely in the arms of Christ at this moment. Jim was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him and he will be deeply missed. Recently Jim was with family and friends at the Bader Family reunion and all who were in attendance were grateful to have been able to spend time with him. He truly loved what he did, driving a truck, and was planning on retiring next year. Jim has now retired early and can rest easy in Heaven. Survivors include his parents, Catherine "Kay" and Glenn McKinney; siblings, Daniel McKinney, Debra (Mary) McKinney, Kathy (Ken) Finnemore, Sheryl (Tony) Prelesnik, and Sandra (Rick) Heinz. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other loving family members. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Friday, October 1, 2021, at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. A funeral service and time of prayer to conclude the gathering will begin at 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Private family inurnment will be held at Mentor Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions are made to the Mentor United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 8600 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060.
