funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home on High Street with burial following in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday and will resume at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Stewart was born on January 10, 1912, in Smith County, the daughter of the late George and Minnie Abernathy. Reared in Flora, she was a graduate of Flora High School. Mrs. Stewart retired after many years of service from Mississippi School Pictures. She was a member of Byram Assembly of God. Mrs. Stewart enjoyed quilting and working in her yard and was particularly fond of growing and pruning her beautiful roses. Mrs. Stewart loved spending time with her family and enjoyed cooking for their many family assemblies.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Hebert E. Stewart, Sr., sisters, Hattie Purvis, Polly Waldrup, Jewell Moore, Dovie Hales, Ollie Kirk, Gussie Abernathy, and brother, Homer Abernathy.
Survivors include, son, Hebert E. Stewart, Jr. of Jackson; daughter, Ann Hancock (Herb) of Jackson; sister, Lucille Bailey of Eupora; grandchildren, William, Jeff, and Sharon Tackett all of Jackson; great grandchildren, Patrick Tackett of Waynesboro and Trevor McGuffie of Louisville and many nieces and nephews.
