In 1949 WD "Rooster" and Nathalie King, of Straight Bayou, had their 5th child in Yazoo City, MS. Joe King has lived a full life making his living and raising his beautiful family in Anguilla, MS. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Anguilla and served as deacon for many years.

He wed his loving wife Wanda Bridges in 1972. They raised their three daughters together over a span of almost 50 years. During this time, he became a Sharkey County Deputy Sheriff. Soon after, he decided to try his luck at farming. Through the years his passion for farming led him to mentoring other eager young men to pursue a career in agriculture. Joe was hard working and dedicated. His first grandchild, raised as his son, followed in his footsteps and continues to carry on the family legacy Joe started. The example he showed in his farming practices were invaluable to many. Aside from farming, he also served his community as a Sharkey County Supervisor and retired after 20 years. His services to his family and community were strong and unwavering.

He is preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Dabne King Hedrick, his parents, his sister Nan McLendon, and brother Robert King.

He is survived by his wife Wanda B. King and his daughters Rachel King and Shelaine Fulton (John), son in law, George Hedrick, grandchildren, Peyton King (Savannah), Laken Fulton, John Bryce Fulton, and Preston Hedrick, great grandchildren, Keeton King and Finnick "Phoenix" King, brother, Gene King (Darlene), sisters Ann McDaniel (Clyde) and Emma Steed (Royce) and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork, MS on Sunday, May 8, 2022, from 5:30pm- 7:30pm. A funeral service will take place on Monday, May 9, 2022 at 10:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Anguilla. Burial will follow at Straight Bayou Cemetery.
