Fred Brown, 94 of Algood died Friday afternoon, May 6, 2022 at Charter Senior Living in Cookeville. He was born April 22, 1928 in Watertown, Tennessee to the late Johnny Malloy and Millie Lou Gibbons Brown.

Fred was a US Army veteran. He was a member of Paran Church and later also attended Algood Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He formerly owned and operated a school bus service, as well as Brown's Diner in Algood.

He also worked as an inspector with the TN Dept of Transportation, and later retired from Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency. He was a lifelong farmer and was quick to help others in need.

His family includes two daughters: Cathy (Johnny) Jones and Susan Maddux (Buddy Jarrell) - all of Cookeville; grandson: Jeremy (Emily) Jones; and great grandchildren: Jackson and Addie Lynn Jones.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Bettie Sue Verble Brown; son-in-law: Freddy Maddux; brothers: Millard, Hubert, Aaron, Clarence, Jared, Sam, Arthur, and Cecil Brown, and Ernest Boatman; and sister: Rettie Mae Fielder.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Algood Family Event Center with Rev. Richard Bond and Rev. Danny Whitson officiating. Interment with military honors followed at Paran Cemetery.
