Ken grew up in Berwyn, PA. As a child he was a Boy Scout, had a paper route and helped his mother after school at her job, working for the Norcini family. He had three brothers, all of whom were called home before him: Harry Allison Mitchell III, Guy Mitchell, Mary Jane Mitchell, and John Mitchell. Kenneth was educated in the Tredyffrin-Easttown school district and also by his father, who fostered his love for driving big machines even at a young age. He was apprenticed by the Gray Brothers and would go on to become a licensed excavator for over 60 years. Hewas proud to note that everyone who worked for him was given insurance and honest pay. Ken
raised his family in Phoenixville, where he served as a trustee and choir member at Bethel Baptist Church. Ken helped to build the church where it is today, alongside his son, Wesley Mitchell. Ken and his family later moved to Berwyn, where he conducted most of his contracted jobs. Ken and his late wife Debbie were philanthropists and were members of many clubs including: The Phoenixville Area Progressive Club, Kiwanis Club and The Boy Scouts of America to name a few. Ken enjoyed cruise trips with his friends, Quander family reunions, talking shop with construction friends and most importantly, spending time with his family. We will remember his strength, faith and contribution to the Phoenixville community, alongside his late wife, Debbie, both of whom are featured on a mural off of Bridge Street.
