Grover Martin King of West Helena, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022 after a brave journey with cancer. He was 72.

Grover was born on November 20, 1949 in Helena, Arkansas, the second child to the late Prentiss and Joyce King. Growing up in Helena, he attended elementary school at Beechcrest and graduated from Central High School in 1968.

After finishing his education, Grover met Judy Jumper. They were married on April 10, 1970 and they had three beautiful children; one boy and two girls. Ultimately, Grover and Judy decided to divorce but they maintained a strong friendship and love for each other.

He was employed with Union Pacific Railroad. He had numerous job duties, including roadmaster. An injury forced Grover to take an early retirement.

In his spare time, Grover enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved to take his grandkids and teach them about his passions. Grover actually loved to teach anyone about hunting fishing, young or old! Although he loved all kinds, squirrel hunting was his favorite.

When he wasn't spending time with family or enjoying time in the woods, Grover liked to take care of his yard and feed the birds and squirrels. Almost every Friday night, he could be found playing a competitive game of dominoes with his buddies.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Prentiss and Joyce King; and by his former wife, Judy Jumper King.

A memorial service for Grover King will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Bob Neal & Sons Brickell Funeral Home in Marvell. A visitation with the family will be prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Brother Joe Garner will officiate.

Honorary pallbearers are Kurt Jones, Victor Carmona, Paul Lovell, Rob Wright, Danny Campbell and Mickey Willis.

The family would like to send a special thank you to Kathy Tyner and Elite Hospice for their wonderful care of Grover during his illness.
