At age 17, Deanna married and moved to Oregon, living there and raising her daughter until 1986 when she moved to Juneau, Alaska. She met the love of her life, William (Bill) Walton, and they married on October 10, 1992. In Juneau, Deanna was co-owner of Capital Cab, Inc., the largest female-owned cab company in the United States at that time. She was a member of the Juneau Women's Council.
Deanna and Bill moved back to Albany in 2001 to be near loved ones. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She was a volunteer with Hospice and Healing Presence for more than 20 years. She enjoyed reading, writing, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Deanna is survived by her husband, Bill Walton; daughter, Teresa Nix; brother, David Nadgwick; sister, Donna Smith; grandsons Riley Nix and Kirby Nix; and many cherished friends and family members.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
