HARTFORD CITY – Lois Ilene Hoover, 96, passed away on May 4, 2022 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Hartford City on March 1, 1926 to Corbett Bantz and Gladys Marie (Whetsel) Bantz. Her parents preceded her in death.
Lois graduated from Hartford City High School in 1944. She married Robert "Bob" Howard Hoover on August 1, 1948 at the First Christian Church in Hartford City. He passed away on March 29, 1990.
Lois retired from the Blackford County Recorder's Office in 1991, she had also worked at the I & M in Hartford City Office as a cashier. Lois was well known for her Noodles, they were considered some of the best in the county. She also enjoyed baking and she loved to clean. Family was very important to Lois and spending time with her daughters and grandchildren were the hi-lights of her life. In her younger years she enjoyed time at Lake Wawasee with her husband, Bob. Her smile and laugh were contagious and she had a heart of gold.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Hartford City.
Lois will be sadly missed by her daughters, Amy L. (husband, Mike) Swanson of Warsaw and Sherry L. (husband, Randy) Smith of Edinburgh; grandchildren, Robyn (husband, David) Brady, Christy Boggs and Kyle (wife, Emily) Smith; great-grandchildren, Gracie Brady, Wyatt Brady, Lily Brady, Mason Brady, Jake Boggs, Lena Smith and Harvey Smith; sister, Sue Cavanaugh of Hartford City; several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Corbett and Gladys Bantz, her husband, Robert "Bob" Hoover, sisters, Elnora Jean Willmann, Zella Hornbaker and Judy Bantz, brother, Verlin "Bud" Bantz and companion, Paul Wayne "Moon" Mullen.
Funeral service will be at 12 (noon) pm Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St., Hartford City with Pastor Troy Kaufman officiating. Visitation will be from 10 am to 12 pm at Keplinger Funeral Home.
Lois will be cremated and interred privately at Hartford City Cemetery at a later date.
