William "Bill" Higgins
July 20, 1953 ~ May 2, 2022 (age 68)

On May 2, 2022, Bill Higgins passed away unexpectedly at his home in Petoskey, MI.

He had a love for nature photography, keeping immaculate fish tanks, Saturday morning doughnut runs, and telling terrible "dad jokes". He could often be found searching through the woods on the hunt for the perfect set of ladyslippers or trilliums with children or a golden retriever in tow. He had a passion for enjoying and preserving nature at its most beautiful.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn and daughters Jessica (Scot) McGeorge, Becky (Ray) Wolfe, and Chrissy (Brian) Carriveau and brother Thomas (Mar) Higgins. He also leaves behind his wonderful step- family James (Carolina) Coon, Denise Dundon, and Kevin (Kate) Coon. He lives on through the lights of his life, his grandchildren – Madison, Noah, Charrise, Vivian, Mckinley, Cole, Toby, Claire, Anna, Henry, Lexi, Ariel and Ashton.

Bill spent his many years with Marilyn having amazing global adventures, travelling to sites unbelievable if not for the photographs that he brought home. They hiked and drove through hillsides and shorelines always with an extra lens or two on his back.

This brilliant husband, father, grandfather, and friend, was welcomed into his next journey by his parents Sam and Harriet Higgins, sister Ann Zegunis, and brother Mike Higgins.

His family's memories are full of unexpected road trips, the sounds of his cheers from the sidelines, and huge family dinners.

In honor of Bill and his love of life, take a moment to enjoy the beauty in your surroundings and remember to "take only pictures, leave only footprints".
