Betty Tyner Rose, 90, was welcomed into the embrace of her loving Lord on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at Wayne UNC Health Care in Goldsboro. Betty was born in Wayne County on September 3, 1931 to the late Robert P. Tyner and Viola Price Tyner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.L. Rose; son, Marc Rose; daughter-in-law, Cathy Rose; and sisters, Atha Vaughn and Helen Cooper.
Lovingly devoted to her husband of 66 years, Betty dedicated her life to caring for him during his health struggles. For all tasks small to great, he counted on her for assistance and she obliged with grace, honoring the vows the two had made to each other.
As a faithful member of Selah Christian Church, Betty served her Lord through involvement in many of the church's ministries. Instrumental in the annual harvest sale, she was the key to its organization, and her deeply sought barbecue chicken sauce made their chicken the absolute best. Through her tireless efforts in many of the church's ministries, her family was a constant support as she served.
Betty considered her role as matriarch of the family her greatest achievement. Always looking after her family, she was quick to offer a word of direction to her three sons. The grandchildren and great-grandchildren, on the other hand, received nothing but praise as they were most precious in her sight.
After raising her family, Betty drove a school bus for 11 years with Wayne County Public Schools. Always known to be a hard worker, she was the one to go to if you wanted a job done. You could best believe that not only would it be accomplished, but it would be accomplished well. With God's help, there was nothing at which Betty tried her hand that she couldn't pull off.
Working with the soil was a source of joy for Betty, as she tended to her flowers and garden. As would be expected, each plant received constant care and attention. Whether from the bounty of her harvests or the shelves of her cupboard, she always had a meal ready for her family.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Betty's life at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Patrick Muston officiating. The family will also greet friends following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home in the Grantham Community. Interment will be at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 in the Rose Family Cemetery near the family home.
