Sarah Rebecca Sowers Buckley, age 92, peacefully passed in her Fairfax, Virginia home on May 1, 2022.

She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many. Sarah was born on June 6, 1929, in Bluemont Virginia and married her husband of 60 years on October 6, 1961. After 45 years of dedicated service, Sarah retired in 1994 from the United States Department of the Army, Total Army Personnel Command. Her dedication and commitment to serving the Department of the Army was recognized with multiple awards of distinction and exceptional performance.

Sarah loved sports, especially her beloved Washington Redskins and Baltimore Orioles. She spent her retirement years enjoying her home and family. Sarah was a member of the Ladies of the Shrine and spent many years supporting Jobs Daughters.

She is survived by her husband; their daughter; son-in law; grandson; sister-in-law; nephew and great-nephew.

A visitation followed by a funeral service will be held for Sarah on Thursday, 5/5, from 11am-1pm at Demaine Funeral Home in Fairfax, with a reception immediately following located at the American Legion in Fairfax.

The following day Sarah will be laid to rest in Ebenezer Cemetery in her beloved Bluemont, VA at 12pm.
