Pastor Charles M. Hilburn, Jr. officiated the Celebration of Life at the First Assembly of God Church honoring Charles Vernard Morris who passed away April 19, 2022, age 82, in Linden, Texas. He was born March 5, 1940, to parents William and Armalea Morris in Vian, Oklahoma. He went to school in Maud, Oklahoma, and graduated from Maud High School in 1958. Charles served in the U. S. Army 1958-1961. Work history includes Tinker AFB, Exxon, Fluor Daniel Inc. He was a talented musician playing saxophone, guitar, and singing at nursing homes, churches, and in a prison ministry during his retirement.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents William and Armalea Morris, and nephew James Lytle.
Charles is survived by his wife Georganna Morris, daughter Yolanda Morris, son Charles M. Morris & wife Angela, grandchildren - Lewie Dabbs III, Dylan Morris, Mathew Morris, John Morris, Chloe Morris, great-grandchildren Kahleen Dabbs and Hazel Morris, sisters Laura Lytle and Billye Lajaunie & husband Michael, 5 nephews, 1 niece, and many friends
Military Honors burial will be 11 a.m., Friday, September 16, 2022, at Romulus Cemetery, located at US Hwy 177 and Romulus Road. Friends and guests are welcome to attend.
