Funeral services for Mr. James Curtis Moss, of Dublin, Georgia, will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at 12 PM at the graveside in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery, 601 East Mary Street in Dublin. Reverend Linda Gattis will deliver the eulogy. Prior to the service, Mr. Moss will lie in state for viewing, 10-11 AM at the Saint Paul AME Church at 308 Rowe Street in Dublin.

James, son of the late Phillip and Vergie Moss, was born in Beckley, West Virginia, on Monday, May 29, 1939. James attended Stratton High School in Beckley, West Virginia. He served in the United States Army from 1961 until 1964 and was stationed in Germany for three years. While in service, he received many citations, and was a M-14 rifle sharpshooter.
He was employed as a Supervisor of Sanitation by the City of Dublin where he retired in 2003. James enjoyed gardening and, for years, supplied vegetables to neighbors, friends and church members.

As a member of the Saint Paul AME Church in Dublin, James was a former Director of the Southwest Georgia Conference Sons Allen Organization, former local president of the Sons of Allen, Men's Choir member, Gospel Choir member, Steward Pro-tem, Church School and Bible Study scholar, former local lay organization president and a Southwest Georgia Conference Trustee. He has served many times as a delegate to the Annual Conference.

His honors include being recognized by the Sixth Episcopal District for service with the Sons of Allen organization. He was named as Lay Person of the Year on the Eastern District Level. He was also awarded a plaque as an associate member to the year by the Women's Missionary Society on the Conference Branch Level in 2007. Mr. Moss passed into eternal rest on Sunday, May 1, 2022.

James was preceded in death by his parents and by his ten siblings, George Moss, Peter Moss, Jerry Moss, Ronnie Moss, Carr Mitchell Moss, Charles Moss, Mary Evelyn Scruggs, Geraldine Dunn, Doris Moss Edwards, and Peggy Lucky.
