Herbert James Daniels, passed away at his home in Bethany April 30, 2022 at the age of 63. He was born May 12, 1958 in Springfield, MO to James and Martha Daniels. He was lovingly known as Jamie to his family. Jamie completed his GED and then attended Francis Tuttle Technology Center in OKC where he studied small engine repair. Before he could complete his training a winter ice storm hit the OKC area and he was unable to complete the in person classroom training, however he worked with the school and did a home study program with self-learning modules. Once he completed the course and was able to start working on engines, he set up a repair shop in his garage. The way he worked was as unique and he was. A customer would drop off a mower, small tractor or any other type of small engine machine and he would troubleshoot the problem. He would then get a parts list made up and check with local parts stores to get the parts he needed. He would call the customer to tell them what was wrong with the engine, ask them to pick up and pay for the needed parts and bring them to him. He would fix the engine and then call the customer with the labor charge for the work he had done. Once paid, they could pick up their machine. Jamie once reported he only had 2 "really bad customers" that tried to rip him off after the work had been done. He had customers from all over NW OKC, and Bethany. He even did work for the City of Bethany from time to time over the years. Jamie was honest, hardworking-- working until the job was done. He never complained about his chronic pain, because he believed keeping busy kept him independent and free. He was valued within his community and family. He was caring, forgiving and unselfish and had a love of music that was unstoppable. He enjoyed playing his bass guitar to classic and alternative rock, especially The Moody Blues, Chicago, Boston, Styx, and Jackson Browne to name a few. Music was his thing. When Jamie gave his word, he stuck to it. He meant what he said and said what he meant. Jamie believed in forgiveness. When he was assaulted in April of 2018, he wanted justice to be done to those that harmed him. He attended all of the court hearings even though it was difficult for him being in the wheelchair and going to the OKC Court House. Parking alone was a nightmare, let alone the severe headaches from the concussion he endured. Once justice was not obtained in the trials, he chose to forgive. His motto was "I was young and dumb too at one time. They're just stupid people." No matter what the challenge, if Jamie wanted it done, he worked until the task was done. He was an out of the box thinker, and an inventor in his own way. His character was bigger than life. He was our Hero. Jamie was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Daniels, his grandmother, Mabel Glidewell and his sisters, Jeanette Chodrick and Shirley Daniels. He is survived by his father, James Daniels, 2 brothers Mark Daniels and David and wife, Carol Daniels, 4 sisters, Lorene Daniels Taylor, Ann and husband, Jerry Thomas, Kim and husband, Adrian Long and Debbie Daniels, 16 nieces and nephews, 42 great nieces and nephews and 10 great-great nieces and nephews. His family was a big part of his life and he enjoyed all the times they got to spend together over the years.

A celebration of life for Herbert will be held Monday, May 9, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Bill Merritt Funeral Service, 6201 Northwest 39th Expressway, Bethany, OK 73008.
