He was born August 26, 1960 in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Walter and Marcia (Montague) Smith. Frank proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He worked at several area businesses. He loved farming and had worked on Belden Smith's farm in Alamo and a watermelon farm in Schoolcraft. For the last 23 years he was employed with the City of Kalamazoo as a waste water operations maintainer.
In his free time Frank loved to go fishing and ride motorcycles. On October 19, 2003 in Kalamazoo he married Tina Thompson who passed away April 19, 2021.
Surviving are his mother, Marcia Bontrager; siblings, Dennis (Jill) Smith of Portage, Michele (John) Finch of Plainwell, Stephanie (Gerard) Gobeil of Otsego and Steven Smith of Plainwell; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; father-in-law, Danny Thompson; sister-in-law, Corie Shireman and by his many friends, including Belden Smith and Rob King.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter and wife, Tina.
According to his wishes cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will take place at a later time.
Burial of ashes with Military Honors will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
